A new take on the costuming of the opera Rusalka

In this world insatiable 19th Century whale hunters have invaded the pristine icy world in which the rusalki reside in peace. Rusalka’s world is organic, textural and clean. In contrast the human ship is reeking of whale-guts and belching smoke. The humans wear layers and layers of constrictive clothing, which Rusalka takes on herself when she becomes human.
